CAMP NOTES – 12THE APRIL 2013

CONCERT

The fundraising concert in aid of St. Marys Church Camp reconstruction funds was a wonderful success. There was great entertainment, session music, drama sketches, storytelling, poetry and even a Ladies Choir from Ardfert.  At the end of the evening,  Fr. John Buckley, PP thanked everybody,  all who attended and participated on the night and the organisers who put the entire programme together and the ICA who provided teas and refreshments.  Mary Moran deserves special mention for her excellent co-ordination of the evening.  Well done to everybody !!

ICA

Camp ICA are holding their Annual General Meeting in The Old School, Camp on Thursday, 18th April at 8.00 p.m. All welcome.

ELECTION

Camp Community Council Ltd. election is on next Sunday, 14th April. Ballot boxes will be available outside both churches between 10.00 a.m. and 1.00 p.m. Count will take place in the Old School, Camp at 1.00 p.m. Everybody is welcome to attend. It is important that you ensure that the persons you vote for are available and willing to attend council meetings and participate in council business.

BUS/WAITING SHELTER

A Bus/Waiting shelter has been erected in the village. Camp Community Council Ltd. would like to acknowledge sponsorship from the following – Dalys Bar,  Ashes Pub, The Railway Tavern, The Junction Bar, Seaside Caravan Park, Shore Acre Caravan Park, O Dwyers Retail Centre, Ocean View Nursing Home, Camp Tidy Towns, Colm Nagle and Pat Joe O Connor,Kerry Co. Council, Joe Costelloe ESB, Tony Costelloe who sponsored the Glass and Eileen O Shea who sponsored the seat in the shelter in memory of her late husband Michael O Shea R.I.P. Local Engineer, Gearoid O Shea did the drawing and designs for the Shelter.  Thanks to all.

COMHALTAS

Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann will hold a church gate collection prior to 12 Mass on Sunday outside St. Marys Church Camp.

GAA

SENIORS: Our Senior footballers drew with Ardfert in the county league on Saturday on a score line of 2-7 to 0-13. Best for us were Jason Hickson, David Clifford and Emmet Kennedy. Our next game is this coming Saturday against An Ghaeltacht in Annascaul, at 6.30pm.

MINORS: Annascaul/Castle/Lispole beat Legion on a score line of 2-17 to 1-14 on Friday night. Best for us were Dara Brosnan, Michael Mullally, Colm Hurley, Cian Kennedy, Geordan Quirke, Fintan Herlihy and Aidan Fitzgerald.

SOCCER: Annascaul FC moved to the top of KDL division 2B with a comprehensive 4-1 win over Bayview on Sunday. Eamon Lenihan, Jason Hickson, Shane Foley and Declan Lindsey got the goals for us, which puts us in a fantastic position with four games remaining.

YOGA CLASSES

Spring Yoga classes starting Monday 8th  April in The Old School, Camp 6.30-8.00p.m. Slow paced Yoga. Drop-in session – E10.00. Mats provided, wear layers of comfortable clothes.More information contact Sarah- 0871637872.

BRITHDAYS

Norah Crean. Knockglossbeg celebrates a special birthday later this month.  And over the road in Derrymore West neighbours Francey O Donnell and John Sayers also celebrate April birthdays.  Congratulations all,  hail and hearty Thank God, don’t look a day over 50 !!   Go maire sibh an céad !
