CAMP CASH COW
Camp Community Council are organising a novel and exciting Annual event on next Sunday, 19th. August in Camp Community Sports Field from 2.00 to 6.00 p.m. Camp Cash Cow is a Family Day and one of the big events happening on the Day is “The Cash Cow” – A cow will be let loose in a confined area in the field, divided into grids and people are invited to buy tickets at E10 each and whoever pinpoints the spot where she does her business, will win E500. And its all in a very good cause, all funds raised going towards the Camp Sportsfield Development. There will plenty of other activities to suit all the family, face painting, bouncy castle, sports relay racing and a Penalty Shoot out with local politicians in Goal and a barbeque and Fancy dress for the children, all happening Sunday next in Camp

VW EIRBALL RUN
The 7th Annual Eireball Run takes place from 11th to 19th August, 2012, taking in The Railway Tavern Camp on Thursday night 16th. August where there will be plenty of entertainment and craic !
This year marks the seventh year for Eireball and the route winds its way anti-clockwise around starting in Arklow and ending in Kilmaganny.
The iconic VW Bus is the vehicle of choice of most participants but Beetles and Karmann Ghias also take part. The quirky classics from the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and further afield, crammed with children, dogs and surfboards, dedicate a week of their summer to the Eireball charities.
To date over €50,000 euro has been raised by the Eireball Run and 100% of the proceeds are donated to the Eireball charities. This year all funds will be shared between MS Ireland and The Samaritans.
Organiser Louisa O’Callaghan is filming a documentary of the event this year which will be premiered at the Annual Railway Tavern, Camp, Co. Kerry gathering on 26Th &, 27Th October.
ICA AND FRIENDS
Camp ICA joined with ladies from Causeway and Castleisland guilds in a 3 day outing to An Grianán last week. They visited the Titanic Museum in Belfast and Moneygall the ancestral home of United States President Barack Obama as well as taking in some shopping and sightseeing as well. They had a wonderful time ! Well done to Camp ICA Secretary Mary Knightly local organiser.
CASTLE PATTERN
Castlegregory Pattern falling annually on 15th August has now been extended to a 3 day event and the hard working local Community Council have a huge programme of activties and entertainment happening day and night suitable for all the family. The Mutton Pie is of course part of it and can be savoured in local pubs and restaurants but above all, the pattern is a time to catch up with old friends and relatives who come home year after year for the pattern.
RED CROSS YOUTHS
The Red Cross youths in Tralee are hosting a FREE afternoon information session for older people in the Imperial Hotel, Denny St, Tralee from 2.30pm until 5.00pm on Thursday August 23rd. This is to celebrate the European Union year of “Solidarity between generations”. Speakers from the Red Cross, an Gardai Siochana, Citizens information service, St Vincent De Paul and others will be at this event. Information packs will be available at the door and there is tea /coffee available as well. This event has been kindly sponsored by the Imperial Hotel, Tralee.
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
Amelia Day, Kilteenbane was pleasantly surprised when she arrived for her usual cup of tea at O Dwyers Retail Centre, Camp after Church on Sunday last. A beautiful birthday cake adorned with candles awaited her to mark a special birthday for Amelia ! Amelia’s ICA friends joined her in the celebration ! Congratulations Amelia !
TRACING YOUR ANCESTRY
John O Sullivan’s recent letter to “The Kerryman” looking for information on his great grandfather Jim O Sullivan, who left Ballinknockane, Camp in the last century to make his fortune in Wales has bore fruit ! John met up with local people and historians who traced his ancestral home and pinpointed the place where the O Sullivan family lived in Camp. John went home happy and says he will be back to Camp next year ! He wants to thank all the Camp people who met him and helped him piece his O Sullivan ancestry together. He says he will be back next year !
WEDDING
The marriage of Patricia Scanlon, Daughter of Patrick and Collette , Cappaclough, Camp and Shane Marmion, son of Danny and Vera, Dundalk took place on Friday, 27th July at St. Marys Church, Camp. Fr. John Buckley PP, Annascaul officiated at the ceremony assisted by Fr. John Carroll. Congratulations to Patricia and Shane and may you enjoy a long and happy life together !

CROKE PARK: Annascaul U/12 played in Croke Park on Tuesday August 7th. A wonderful experience for these promising young footballers, hopefully the first of many ! Among them was Jack Farrell, Ballinknockane, Camp son of the prolific Annascaul Club player, Genie Farrell and of the O Driscoll Farrell family, a West Kerry Football Dynasty in our time. Well done to all !
