The Merchant was and still is the headquarters for all Kerry people in Dublin up for All Irelands or indeed for any other occasions.
Kerry man of the Year and Chairman and President of The Kerrymans Assoiciation, Dublin and playing music for Bill Clinton, former Presdident of America in the Whitehouse, Ned took it all in his stride and when a neighbour or musician from West Kerry came into the Merchant, the salutation from Ned was “ have you a bed for the night” He was a humble man who never forgot his roots.
