COMMUNITY ALERT

The Community Alert Public Meeting organised by Camp Community Council on Sunday last was well attended. Gárda Nina Long gave a very informative talk and stressed the need for awareness of cars, vans or other vehicles, many of whom are bogus traders who are coming around rural areas and targeting older people or people living alone. Take car registration number and inform the Gárdaí and they will check them out.  Ask for contact telephone number which can be checked out , you can verify a number yourself by calling 11890.

Gárda Long advised people not to leave valuables in parked cars in car parks adjacent to local beaches.

Motorists speeding on our roads was also cited as a huge danger to road users. Gárda Long would welcome information from the public confidentially or otherwise on any suspicious movements or behaviour in the area. Gárda Long praised highly the local Home Helps who are providing a wonderful service to our elderly. They play a huge role in supporting older people in our communities and for many people they may well be the only carer/visit they have during the week.  Thanks to Gárda Long for her commitment and excellent work with our communities in West Kerry.
